Low Pressure Boiler Operations
IEM has a number of licensed boiler operators on staff that provide floating boiler operations and service throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. We offer 24 x 7 service, offering cost effective solutions to schools and churches that share a boiler operator. In addition to our routine operator and maintenance services, our team can also coordinate more intensive boiler service with outside contractors.
Routine services include:
-
Routine Inspections:
-
Visual checks for leaks, corrosion, or damage.
-
Monitoring of water levels, pressure, and temperature.
-
-
Maintenance:
-
Cleaning of boiler internals to remove scale and sediment buildup, which can impair efficiency. This might involve chemical treatments or mechanical cleaning.
-
Replacement or repair of worn parts like gaskets, valves, and piping.
-
-
Water Treatment:
-
Regular testing and treatment of boiler water to prevent scaling and corrosion. This includes adjusting pH, adding chemicals to control dissolved oxygen, and ensuring proper alkalinity.
-
-
Safety Device Checks:
-
Testing and calibration of safety valves, pressure gauges, and water level indicators to ensure they function correctly under operational conditions.
-
-
Combustion Efficiency:
-
Tuning of the burner for optimal combustion efficiency, which involves adjusting air-to-fuel ratios. This can be done through stack temperature monitoring, flue gas analysis, and burner maintenance.
-
-
Documentation and Compliance:
-
Keeping records of all maintenance activities, water quality tests, and inspections for compliance with local regulations or insurance requirements.
-
Ensuring the boiler operation meets all safety standards and codes.
-
-
Efficiency Audits:
-
Periodic audits to assess and improve the boiler's overall efficiency, possibly involving heat recovery systems or insulation upgrades.
-
-
Emergency Response:
-
Preparing and sometimes executing emergency shutdowns if there's a risk of failure or unsafe operation.
